Quake 4. based on the Doom 3 graphics engine and made by the same company (id software), it is a highly demanding game for systems all over the world. and i dont thing my pc graphics can handle it. sob…………..

i have a test on thursday, 20/10/2005. i am going to fuck up that test (the time of writing is wednesday morning, 20/10 8am). I havent slept yet, and tomorrow the test will have 5 topics, with each topic having its own question. and the teaching module of that subject only has 2 out of the five topics. yesh i’m threaded and waiting to be screwed. need to do self research and study on 3 topics based on the very few notes given in class. and the fact that i am not a regular in that particular class complicates matters. recklessness and stupidity has no bounds. o.O recklessness is a word, the spell check confirmed it. haha it looked wierd, so i had to spellcheck it. update: it is thursday morning, and i’m not sure what the hell i’ve been studying. so the best i can hope for is remembering all the formulas and hoping i can apply the formulas in answering questions. did a few questions, but mostly simple ones, and not in all the 5 topics. out of the 5, i’ve covered 3 and a half, with maybe 2 topics that i should be able to answer. if i cant i will be confirming a repeat on this subject. update: out of the 5 questions, 4 had to be answered. i could only answer 3, and if i’m lucky (extremely lucky), i have a potential of 15/20 marks. but i wont be keeping my hopes up, i wasnt too confident in answering, so i’ll just let it be. i have a test on monday, and today (sunday) i just started studying. yesterday was spent at the cc (3 hours) and watching movies (dvd only, no money buy ticket).
ati technologies has released its new series of graphics processors (GPU or graphics cards), the X1000 series. from the x1300 to the x1800, wih the x1800 being the flagship. according to anandtech (anandtech.com), the x1800 has advantages and disadvantages over the nvidia 7800gtx, but in most games the gtx outperforms the x1800. i’m not sure about the pricing in malaysia. but the x1600 loses out to the nvidia 6800gt, which is its direct rival. and it is more expensive than the 6800gt, so it could be said that it is in the completely losing end. i’m not sure abou x1300, not to interested in low end cards. even though i’m broke, i still have the right to dream, dont I? haha. and i dont even have a PCI Express slot on my mainboard. and my processor is a 2.4A socket 478, which is being phased out. and my ram is a pc2700 ddr. so if i wanted to get a new graphics card, i would have to change my whole system. which is a new mainboard with a PCIE slot, either p4 socket 775 or AMD socket 754 or 939, and DDR2 ram. if the mainboard is new and has a PCIE slot, it should have ddr2 ram, which operates at double the speed or normal ram which is normally 166/233/333/400MHz. which means that it could go up to 800MHz. and ddr2 has the same price as normal ddr ram nowadays. in fact some older ddr rams are more expensive, like the pc2700 which is more expensive than the pc3200. why? beats the heaven out of me. so for new mainboard, new processor, new ram, new GPU, the cost would be at least rm250 for m/board, rm400 for CPU, rm200++ for ram, cheap PCiE GPU minimum rm200 which would be no diff than my current 1. so the price would at least be rm1k. but we want at least 1gb RAM, so add rm200, at least a GPU in the range of rm500, a processor that blazes which is at least the amd athlon64 3000++ (rm 555)/ p4 630 3ghz (rm655), and a decent m/board around rm 350++. rm1.8k. add a sata HDD (sata has the fastest transfer speeds, a must for gaming), 80gb(minimum) around rm200. rm2k, excluding casing, optical drive, keyboard n mouse, and monitor. casing+psu, rm 150 for a decent set, rm200 for a dvd-rw drive, rm80 for a nice keyboard and mouse, rm 250 for a 17"samsung crt monitor or rm700 for a 15" lcd. rm2.7k for a nice rig that handles new games but not at the highest resolution but without lagginess. my current rig is about a year old. and to change it after such a short time would be asking for my parents to kick my ass and a free lecture on the value of money.
i havent had any dreams in a while. dunno y. tips on knowing whether some1 is dreaming. if u see their eyeballs moving around behind the eyelids, they’re dreaming. its called rapid eye movement and it means that sum1 is in deep sleep and dreaming. normally it takes about 2 or 3 hours of sleep before REM kicks in, and usually the dream stops about 2 to 3 hours before you wake up. that is why dreams are normally short. or maybe in the dream time moves slowly, so maybe what u would think was 5 minutes in a dream could actually be an hour or two. dont blame me if i’m wrong. haha but the REM and dream patterns are correct. it is said that dreams happen more often when some1 is exhausted. most likely dreams give the brain something nonstressful to think about and kinda rests the brain. most of the time when u have a dream, u tend to wake up more refreshed. any1 wanna object to this? especially when you have a nightmare, you wake up with extra zest, with your body even sweating and warming up before you even wake up. haha. i havent had a nightmare in a while, and only a few times have i been woken up by a nightmare. and i dont have too many recollections of those. i guess to me nightmares and dreams arent too different in dictating my condition when waking up. never woken up sweating or anything except if its hot.
any1 played silent hill 4 before? nice game, i played it awhile, until almost the end (without cheats or walkthroughs), but then shit happened and i reformatted my pc. didnt have the heart to reinstall it cos it just takes too much time to complete the game. u have to be very perceptive of the surroundings, very curious, and most of all very patient. i spent the whole night trying to find out what the hell i was supposed to do after exploring everywhere. turns out i didnt check someone’s refrigerator in the three story apartment building. and some of the other puzzles required u to go to many places many times to change stuff. the last game i played was need for speed underground 2. it differed from NFSU 1 due to the fact that it required us to go and look for races, instead of just jumping into the action. kinda GTA style, having to explore the city, with no time limits or rules on what we should do. and you can have a duel with other cars in which you have o outrun the other car by 300 meters/945 feet. that gives u cash and sometimes free upgrades and unique items. if you lose, u lose up to 350 (i think) in cash.
i have a theory on dvd burners and burning. if there is a dvd that fails the data verification after burning, and cant be opened, the problem is most likely a file that was burnt in it. some files just cant be burned into dvds. for instance there was this one folder, containing an anime series that just cant be burned. 4 dvds later and it still cant be burned. the dvd that had it wasnt detected by the drive or caused the whole pc to freeze when trying open the dvd. the probabilities of getting 4 faulty blank dvds in a row is very very very very low. i’ve had around 4 or 5 different files that had these problems and just resulted in extra dvd wastage. about 10 dvds were thrown away/smashed THEN thrown away due to these files. after running the nero cd quality test, none of the dvds i had had too much damage, the most being around 1-5% damage. most of the time it was the unreadable parts that caused the havoc, sometimes up to 50% of the dvd was unreadable. could this be caused by the burner? the dvd? the file? i just dont know what to believe anymore. haha.
watched appleseed that day, not a bad story. although it was quite shortwinded. but the storyline had a bit of twist on it, and it isnt cliched. not to mention the breathtaking graphics. cG is cool. this was the 3rd CG japanese movie i’ve watched after steam boy and FFVII.
oh and the study leave has started along with the aidilfitri holidays. wootness and good luck and happy raya aidilfitri to all. not to forget happy deepavali to our fellow hindu readers. errr i’m not sure if there are. i will be going back to penang on the 31st for no particular reason. i’m coming back just because my sis ask me what my plans for raya were and i had to particular answer. so i followed her plans which were to go back to penang. with nothing at home, the only place to "beraya" is at at our relatives’ houses at penang. my only living grandma is at perak, but the fact that i’m not too close to my dad’s siblings is a deterrent. i’ve gone to my grandma’s alone especially while driving from kl-penang or penang-kl, but there isnt anything fun there except my brother’s PS2. but i am a certified console game NOOB. playing any game for a short period is enough for my fingers to blister. yes they blister. maybe my fingers have the texture of a woman’s skin, or maybe i’m just a sissy. =.=" hell after 20 games of bowling nonstop (i was stupid, sunshine square had a promotion 4 school students, rm1 for 1 game. greed aint good. and playing 20 games straight isnt as fun as playing 20 games a week. after 12 i had to switch hands. and thus the playing like idiots started) i only got 1 thumb blister. but after an hour of playing Burnout 3 (a racing game in the PS2) my thumb already had fluids building up under the skin. all the training i got by going to my dad’s plantation and swinging the machete for half a day still made the skin on my hand soft like a girl’s and blistering easy. hell when i was playing tennis that day i got blisters. ultimate sweatness. is my power more than my body can handle? am i stupid for asking that question?
now most universities are having holidays. if they arent, they’re having their exams. so to those who are currently having their exams, good luck. and to those who are having their holidays, good luck too.
my pc gave me a scare yesterday. i took out the processor and heat sink and fan, and when putting it back in the pc wont start. after testing out each component with my friend’s pc, starting with the cpu and m/board, i thought the psu was the problem. so i tried everything out for the last time. and nothing was wrong. after getting my thumbs split and my knuckles skinless, nothing was wrong. ……………..
i havent been updating this blog in a while, usually by the time i reach a cybercafe my mind goes blank and all the world changing ingenius ideas i had for the future of mankind disappeared into thin grey matter. which is saying my brain isnt big.
i had a dream a few days ago. i was at my secondary school’s office, which was three to five years ago. suddenly the sunset was covered in black clouds, and every1 was saying it was the end of the world and praying for forgiveness. then the dream ended. woot. no signs of destruction happening. any1 good at analysing dreams here?
i have been having trouble sleeping at nights. i stay up until past sahur, which is around 5.45, and usually until morning classes. not that i’m imsomniac or anything. far from it. haha. i sleep during the gaps between classes and in the afternoon. usually i wake at 6, enough time for me to get ready to go out to buy food from the ramadhan bazaar. and after breakng fast i sometimes continue sleeping.
havent updated my profile in a while, been bz and not sure what the hell i should put in the profile. haven been uploading any new pics of myself either, coz i’m damn ugly. a baboon’s ass looks better than my face. haha kidding, actually havent taken any pics of myself, no digicam (with parents in another country T_T) or camera phone. and the last pics taken of me were with the digicam at penang while i was climbing penang hill, and at kedah while i was swimming at lata hijau under a huge waterfall. woot. but in most of the pics all u could see was my either my head or feet sticking out of the water, on nothing, completely submerged. my swimming skills have begun to suck, my freestyle isnt refined enough, and my shoulder muscles are too weak to do the butterfly for a respectable distance, which is 10 meters. yes i now suck. only my breast stroke and backstroke isnt shameful. zzzzz. damn i need to swim more. havent found anywhere near enough to my college to go. as it is generally known, swimming is a good excercise for all and it doesnt exert the muscles too much and prevents the muscles from overheating and releasing lactic acid, which is the thing that makes our muscles feel sore. talking about excercise, i havent been doing any since trekking up penang hill. this semester played tennis about 4 times due to laziness of almost every1 around me and the fact that 2 of my evenings and night are spent in class. Contract lecturers with full time jobs that can only do classes at nights suck. and the fact that they arent full time lecturers complicates syllabus planning and marks division. and the fact that they dont always know/remember what they are teaching is annoying. i have one lecturer that gives us notes and tells us to read them ourselves, and that it isnt complete and that we have to do our own research on the subjects to be able to answer all the exam questions. and another lecturer that gives us the formulas, then goes straight to example solving, and when it comes to the tests, he gives us completely different questions. the examples were in one plane and he test question was in two planes.
i wondered how much saliva would reach the ground if i spit from the 7th floor at atmospheric pressure and 28 degrees celsius. hoho with wind speeds at 10 km/h, what is the rate of evaporation of the saliva if the surface area is 1cm square and the initial saliva temperature is 30 degress celsius? this is one of my genius questions. hahaha.
i just found out that shark boy and lava girl in 3D, Sin City, Star Wars Ep 3, and Madagascar were made using AMD64 processors. woot. The debate on intel vs AMD still goes on… i’m rooting for AMD even though my current rig is a P4 2.4A. which isnt the best gaming platform. coupled with a geforce fx 5200 and 512 mb RAM, my pc has mediocrity written all over it. back then i was a techonoob. zzzzz…. now i dream about the AMD64 dual core 4800++ processor, 4gb corsair ddr2 ram, geforce 7800gtx, 2x western digital raptor 250GB 10k RPM 8mb buffer SATA hard disk and a watercooled system… for starters. add a creative fatal1ty pro elite sound card worth rm 2k, hp lightscribe dvd burner with cd printing, an acryllic seehrough casing and LEDS and fans everywhere, i would say i’m set. for at least 3 years of top notch gaming. why AMD? because it performs better on games, and lower clock speeds compared to the P4 which translates into lower power consumption and lower heat generation. and it only loses out on mulitasking by only a few points againts the HT p4. but its cheaper than the p4.

i found out that i only get involved in accidents only when i’m driving slowly. 2 accidents while driving slow, none while driving fast. in 3 years. and the newest accident wasnt really an accident, it was more like a scratch.
